Shihu Scenic Area is located in the southwestern suburbs of Suzhou, seven kilometers from the ancient city. It is renowned for its Wu-Yue relics and the picturesque landscapes of Jiangnan water towns and rural areas, featuring numerous ancient temples, pagodas, tombs, and the retirement homes of Song Dynasty rural poets such as Fan Chengda. The area primarily consists of Shihu Resort Village, Scenic Tourist Zone, Film and Culture Zone, and Ethnic Cuisine Zone.
The most famous attraction at Shihu is the “Shihu Moon Chain,” which originates from the Nine-Hole Bridge (Xingchun Bridge) on the lake. The holes are connected, reflecting in the water. On the night of the 18th day of the eighth lunar month, when the full moon hangs high in the sky, each of the nine circular holes reflects a moonlit image on the lake, creating the marvelous “September Moon Chain” spectacle, truly breathtaking in beauty.
